Hello! 👋 My name is Douglas Riese
I am a graduate from the Computer Systems Technology program at
Saskatchewan Polytechnic
Portfolio
My portfolio is a work in progress. Below are links to two repositories on Github for websites
I have worked on during my time at Saskpolytech. I created these two websites as part of one of my web design courses: CWEB 280
If you wish to see the websites in action, click the links below.
To see the code for these websites on my GitHub page use these links:
Card Addicts,
Music Addicts
Card Addicts is hosted entirely on Cloudflare, which means it should respond quickly. Music Addicts, on the other hand, is initially slow to respond because only the frontend is hosted on Cloudflare. The backend is hosted on Render. Render needs time to spin up, but, after it does, the website will function normally.
Experience
I was a Student Research Assistant at the Digital Integration Centre of Excellence (DICE).
There, I was part of a team to research and develop a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system for Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Some of the things I did there include:
- Participated in code reviews.
- Learned from experienced senior developers through mentorship.
- Created comprehensive technical documentation.
- Proactively identified issues and suggested improvements.
Education
I have a diploma in Computer Systems Technology I obtained from Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
I started CST in Sept. 2023, and I graduated in June 2025.
Some of the things I learned there include how to:
- Write code fluently in languages such as: C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Design and build websites using mockup tools such as Balsamiq, and frameworks such as Vue.js and Express.js.
- Apply database management concepts using relation database systems such as: PostgreSQL, SQLite, Microsoft Access, and MySQL.
- Use version control tools like Git to manage individual and team-based assignments and projects across platforms such as GitHub.
